Our Sweet Angel Becky
Our Sweet Angel Becky

It is with great sadness
that I have to share that
our sweet Becky has
grown her angel wings and
gone to live in heaven.
For those of you who
didn't know her struggle, Becky was a
beautiful 10 year old girl who has battling
lung cancer. I wrote several posts about her
a few months ago and most of us voted our
hearts out trying to get her to the Macy's
parade.
I would like to share with you just a little of
what Becky was all about. She was a
vibrant child with a smile that could warm
anyone. She had the power to turn a dismal
day into a day filled with sunshine with one
flash of her smile. She was brave beyond
words… Trooper Becky.
Becky lost her battle with cancer and went
safely to heaven in the arms of the angels
on February 6th. Saturday morning the
angels made their presence known. Her
Mom asked her if they were colorful and she
said they were red and blue, no they’re
blue. The angels quietly took her home to
God. Becky waited for one of the largest
snowfalls in recent years to make her grand
entrance in heaven. Just like her big smile
…she made a big entrance! LOL
Becky’s viewing was last night. Her little
white casket sat in the front of the room and
tore my heart out. Her favorite stuffed dog
rested on the top. Her family stood bravely
by her side. When Lauren went up to coach
Wendy this blessed woman took my child’s
face in her hands and told her that when
she goes to the plate to hit the ball
remember Becky is by her side. When her
ball goes way out in the field it will be Becky
helping her get that ball out of reach! I
watched as she took the time to consider
each one of our children’s feelings during
this time of loss for her own family. The
photo’s of this sweet child were everywhere
and videos sat on the tables. I watched as
tears streamed down the faces of young and
old alike. This child touched the heart of
thousands.
Her memorial was today. In the middle of
the biggest blizzard ever! What a girl! She
certainly didn’t want any of us to forget this
day and I’m sure I never will. The service
was beautiful and the pastor explained
heaven in a way I have never heard in all
my life. He made it seem comforting and
much like her life she had here on earth
..only in heaven.
As we left the church and made our way to
our truck Lauren and I heard a cracking
sound and I told her to run. We ran as fast
as we could and the huge branch that fell
missed us. I’d have to say that Becky called
in her angel friends to get my butt
moving…there is no way I ran that fast on
my own! LOL
I’d ask all of you to remember the lessons so
many of us learned. Reach out …even if you
don’t know the person. Get involved…even
the smallest gesture or a kind smile can
make a difference in someone’s life. Love
harder, hug tighter and more often. Live life
to the fullest each day and most of all don’t
ever give up hope. Bravery comes in many
sizes and shapes. Find happiness in all you
can. So tonight my friends when you look at
the snow think of Becky and that awesome
smile. Hug those kids with all you have
tonight. Each day is a gift…cherish each
one. Don’t sweat the small stuff…it’s really
not important in the end…it’s all about the
love!
Love ya!
