The Power of Friendship
The Power of Friendship
I am amazed and inspired by the power of friendship I am about to share with you. I hope when you are done reading it you will see what I see.
Dec. 5th, 2008 a young lady was involved in a tragic accident. A beautiful 20 year old going to school at a Pa. university was found unconscious and critically injured in the parking lot. She was the victim of a hit and run. Her boyfriends was the driver. He hit her, drug her and left her for dead.
Her injuries included head trauma, a shattered jaw and broken ribs to name a few. Her family and friends were told she would not make it. With love, prayers and great doctors today she is still fighting! Due to all the injuries it is as if she is trapped in her own body. She can't move at all. She can move her eyes-that's a plus! Her friends talk to her and hope she can hear them.
Her best friends said "She is vivacious, carefree, caring, brave, big-hearted, understanding just to name a few. She has so much to live for and so much to offer. Nothing could ever stand in her way. She was there anytime we ever needed her."
They all have so many questions . How did it all change so fast? Will she ever be the same? Will she be able to live life to the fullest?
The young lady is the friend that they can't live without.
These 2 young ladies-her friends will not give up. They have been trained to take care of her and help out every day. They know that the family is suffering a huge financial burden on top of everything else so they have made it their mission to raise money for this child.
They have had one major fundraiser for her and another is being held next week. The first one was at Outback steakhouse. I have to tell you the turn out was amazing. We went and waited almost 2 hours to be seated on a Tuesday night! Take out was 40 people deep! The next one is at Chik-fil-A. I am sure it will be mobbed! They have boxes everywhere for donations, they have an online demo going, they have plans for more.
On top of all the fundraising they take time each day to interact with their friend. They know it's just a matter of time till the swelling goes down and then the real work begins. She will have to learn everything all over again. They will be there! She may forget things. They will remind her.
I am inspired and in awe of the love and power of this friendship. They know they can't control the injuries so they took on something they could control. I believe they will be there for her no matter the outcome. This is one of those friendships that comes along once in a lifetime. I applaud them! They have my standing ovation!
